Data Innovation Manager
He graduated in Physics at the University of Catania in 2005, a Licentiate Diploma in the class of Experimental Sciences from the SSC Catania in 2005, and a PhD in Astrophysics from SISSA in Trieste in 2009.
From 2009 to 2013 he worked as a scientist in various research centers around the world (Padua, Warsaw, Oxford, Beijing) and published 9 papers, 7 of which as first author (5 in international peer-reviewed conference proceedings). He participates in numerous international events around the world, often as a speaker. In 2 cases he is part of the organizing committee.
In 2013 he returned to Italy and began a very varied career.
Between 2013 and 2022 he worked in the world of Data Science on topics of Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Visualisation, Cloud Computing, and similar; he held, among others, the roles of PDM (Product Development Manager), CDO (Chief Data Officer) and CTO (Chief Technical Officer).
It contributes to projects of great impact and innovation (such as Mediaset's Data Lake).
Furthermore:
- Writes Big Data articles for the Mondadori Group
- He is a member of the Scientific Technical Committee of the ITS Steve Jobs of Caltagirone and Catania
- Carries out various teachings on Machine Learning and Big Data: at the University of Catania; at ITS Steve Jobs; as training for professionals; and creates an 11-hour online course.
- Founds the Big Data community (2015)
- Teaches mathematics and physics at 2 high schools
Between 2014 and 2022 he took over 17 courses on various topics, from technological innovation to leadership (including courses from Stanford and MIT), and obtained two AWS certifications.
Between 2015 and 2017 he was one of the 4 mentors of TIM WCAP, one of the largest corporate startup accelerators in Europe.
In 2022 he founded and led 2 innovative startups in the Data Science and e-commerce sector.
His interests include a passion for cross-country running (he ran 4 marathons and in 2020 attempted to circumnavigate Italy by running with "Correre ai confine"), for communication (he organized TEDxSSC 2016, took part in over 70 events from 2003 onwards, taking part in numerous of them) and for oriental languages (knows the basics of Chinese, HSK II).
