The University of Palermo promotes the processes of entrepreneurial genesis in the context of its Third Mission activities through the enhancement of the function of business accelerator, support for self-entrepreneurship, the promotion of academic and university spin-offs and to the competition of business ideas called StartCup Palermo.

UniPa has set up a spin-off commission to verify the sustainability and development characteristics of the entrepreneurial projects proposed by its own teaching and non-teaching staff.

There are currently 28 academic and 1 university spin-offs (with UniPa's participation in the share capital).
