ISTITUTO PER I BENI ARCHEOLOGICI E MONUMENTALI

The Institute for Archaeological and Monumental Heritage of the National Research Council (IBAM-CNR) has its headquarters in Southern Italy (Catania, Lecce, Tito Scalo-Potenza), a Mediterranean area characterized by important archaeological sites, representing indeed a unique strategic resource for cultural economic development.

Southern Italy constitutes today the southern frontier of Europe; through its history, cultural traditions and geographical location, it forms a natural link with the other Mediterranean Countries, all of which are distinguished by a rich cultural and archaeological patrimony to be promoted, enhanced and preserved.

The Institute operates through important scientific agreements with national and international research centres and university bodies engaged in this field, activating at the same time, a well established network of embedded research laboratories in order to spread the understanding of Cultural Heritage.
